Diamond Lassiter was the perfect Gem to start this series with. I loved how she knew that Zachary was the one for her. She was the perfect beauty to tame that beast.

Zach was ill mannered and ridiculous for almost 75% of the book. That was surprising. I had to keep reminding myself that Diamond was completely convinced he was the man for her. Her parents seemed to reinforce that train of thought to her.

I think one of my favorite parts of the book was when Ms. Lucy had that conversation with Diamond. It was time someone hit her with a little reality.

I did enjoy the intrigue. I was not 100% sure about the people involved in the conspiracy until almost the end. And the reasons for all that drama was mind blowing. Just goes to show how many mentally unbalanced people were after the Lassiters, their significant others, and friends.

I would give this book 4.5 stars. There was a nice amount of intrigue, danger, suspense, and mystery. Of course, not forgetting the romance and the heat. I think this would have been 5 full stars if Zach’s behavior had improved much earlier in the book.

I am definitely invested in what happens with the rest of the family. I am also wondering if Samuel and Cynthia had a story.
